About Me

My name is Matt Goetsch, and I'm a web designer / developer who utilizes technologies such as HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, Flash and ActionScript3, along with other skills such as Photography and Graphic Design, to create encompassing, interactive, intuitive designs.

As a Designer my view has been that if a piece is able to arrest your attention, even if only for a moment, it's doing its job well. With all types of information being displayed everywhere you go, if your design does not stand out, your information will be missed. When presented with a problem, I have a love for creating and exploring unique solutions that will catch an eye. One of my greatest inspirations is music, mostly classical and electronic. I find that rhythm and beats can translate very well into graphical elements.

I work almost exclusively with digital media. I'm drawn to how different aspects of digital media integrate so well with each other. From designing a logo to translating it into a poster or a website along with many other possibilities, I can create a full coherent image for a business or product. My design is typically very structural and technical. I tend to play with high and low contrast to emphasize or trick, along with balance and asymmetry. The key though, which either makes or breaks the design, is its typography. Knowing what works in which setting, and being able to find the perfect typeface, is essential to creating a cohesive piece where the information is essentially part of the image itself.

My work constantly evolves and grows, as I pick up up any new and useful knowledge from bits and pieces of all the design which surrounds us on a daily basis. I can then expand upon these and use them for future projects. It fills me with joy when I'm designing for a client who is as excited as me about the project, and I can work with them to create something far beyond their original hopes.
